ぼくはいつも思おもうのだが、視し覚かくにとらえたものをただ単たんに描えがいても、決けっして絵かい画がにはならない。視し覚かくのかなた（注1）にかくされているものをとらえて、それを画が面めんに定てい着ちゃくさせたとき、はじめて絵かい画がが誕たん生じょうする。絵かい画がとは目めの前まえの自し然ぜんを心こころのなかに消しょう化かし、それをもう一いち度ど吐はきだす作さ業ぎょうによって生うまれるのだ。そうすることによってはじめて普ふ遍へん的てきな（注2）美びの世せ界かいが出しゅつ現げんするのだと思おもう。だから芸げい術じゅつというものは、理り屈くつ（注3）では解かい決けつできないものなのだ。理り屈くつを超こえたところに本ほん当とうの美びがある。
