私わたしは子こどもの頃ころから漫まん画がを読よむのが大だい好すきで、よく漫まん画が絵えをらくがき（注1）していました。お話はなしを作つくるのも好すきだったので、小学校しょうがっこう低てい学がく年ねんのころにはストーリーのある漫まん画がの真ま似ねごとのようなものを描えがいて、遊あそんでいました。

最さい初しょ、鉛えん筆ぴつだけでノートに描えがいていたのが、そのうち原げん稿こう用よう紙しやペンというものがあるのを知しって、それらを買かってきて使つかうようになりました。そうして完かん成せいさせた作さく品ひんを、中ちゅう学がく生せいの時ときに雑誌ざっしの漫まん画が募ぼ集しゅうのコーナーに投とう稿こう（注2）しました。何なん度どか投とう稿こうした末すえに、高こう校こう一いち年ねん生せいのときにデビュー（注3）に値あたいする賞しょうを頂いただいて、プロになることが決きまったのです。

はじめから、「どうしても漫まん画が家かになりたい！」と考かんがえていたかというと、そうではありませんでした。漫まん画が家かになれたらいいなあという憧あこがれはありましたが、絶ぜっ対たいになれる、と思おもってはいなかったのです。当とう時じはまだ、自じ分ぶんの可か能のう性せいというものがどこかに向むかって伸のびているのか、そんなにちゃんとは判はん断だんできませんでした。

自じ分ぶんの将しょう来らいについてまだ深ふかく考かんがえてはいませんでしたし、また__________小しょう説せつ家かや童どう話わ（注4）作家さっかになりたいと思おもったこともありましたし、アイドル（注5）歌か手しゅのようにテレビに出でたいねと、友ともだちと歌うたや踊おどりを練れん習しゅうしたこともあります。映えい画が監かん督とくにもカメラマンにも、デザイナーにもなってみたいと思おもったものです。（後こう略りゃく）
